History of muslim community in Novosibirsk

Muslim community in Novosibirsk was established in 1910 when the Muslims presented a petition with request to give them some land for building the mosque. In 1910 this project was approved in Tomsk Governorship. In 1916 the new mosque, historical mosque of our city’s Muslims was opened at Burlinskaya 1(now Frunze 1). But the Muslims didn’t manage to execute their religious duties for a long time. Troubled days came and Muslims were forced to leave that building. Imams, muezzins and those who were defending their right to fulfil religious duties were repressed. Nevertheless the community didn’t want to disappear so it bought a private house and continued working with the people who were willing to fulfil their religious duties. But the authority didn’t stop and decided to pull down the house and make the Muslims move to much worse places.

The Exalted Allah said: ‘ Truly those who believed are brothers’.

Novosibirsk occupies very large area, there are 40 km from one end to another. That’s why some people sometimes can’t come for the prayer. The Muslim Council decided to build one more mosque on the left side of Ob river that separates our city into 2 parts. The local authority accepted our proposition and gave area of 1.3 hectare for the new mosque.

The Prophet, on him be peace, said: “He who builds a mosque in the world, the Exalted Allah builds for him a palace in Paradise”.

There is another building on the sketch where school classes and rooms for living will be situated. If we have enough money insh Allah we will begin to build a charity centre and Islamic Studies Institute where people of all ages having different levels of education will be able to study. Apart from the youth we will also invite the aged who have no relatives and at least at last years of their life we will show them how to pray and we will try to save their souls in eternal life.

The Prophet, on him be peace, said: “If Allah using you helps a person to follow the right way, it is better for you than all this life an all it contains.”

A young jewish boy used to serve the Prophet and he became sick. So the Prophet went to visit him. He sat near his head and asked him to embrace Islam. The boy looked at his father, who was sitting there; the latter told him to obey Abu-l-Qasim and the boy embraced Islam. The Prophet came out saying: "Praises be to Allah Who saved the boy from the Hell-fire."

We intend to make Novosibirsk the centre of Islamic studies in Siberia. We wish to build the printing office to distribute religious literature in people’s native languages.

The Prophet, on him be peace, said: “When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge (which he has left behind), or a righteous child who will pray for him.”

“Means are needed to fight at the right way for the name of Allah. Give your money for it. Give a good loan to Allah, and He will multiply it. He keeps and gives to everybody He wishes for your benefit. You will be returned to Him and rewarded for what you have done.”

Allah says in Holy Quran: “ He alone can maintain the Mosques of Allah who believes in Allah, and the Last Day, and observe Prayers, and pays the Zakat and fears none but Allah ; so these it is who may be rightly guided”.
